Ankara Festival Highlights and Outfit details

Hello loves! Feels like forever since I last posted here and I miss connecting with you all. I have just been very sick and super busy with events and work. But I will make an effort to update more, since this is my baby too and I enjoy sharing with you all. But this is why you need to connect with me on Facebook and Instagram  :-)
I attended the Ankara Festival at the Belasco Theater  in Downton Los Angeles. The Festival, deemed as the biggest one on the West Coast, was created in 2010 with the aim to increase the visibility of African Culture through fashion, Arts, music, dance, and food. Their  goal is to showcase Modern African Designs in African Print (Ankara) by Established African  (as well as African inspired) designers and young up and coming ones who are seeking a platform to showcase their work, develop their entrepreneurial ambition in the international fashion arena , and network with industry peers and the public.
The hosts Yvonne orji (love her!) and Duain Richmond 'Fela' rocked
Ankara Festival attracted  a huge audience this year – fashion followers, Music Lovers, buyers, bloggers, lovers of the African culture and media were in attendance.
The hosts this year were amazing. They actually returned for a second time because the public loved them last year too. Yvonne Orji is a Nigerian actress, writer and comedienne. The girl is very funny and smart and down to earth. She kept us cracking up and entertained the whole night.
Her co-host, Duain Richmond Fela, is a Sierra leonean actor and performer. He brought the serious part to the show, doing a great job taming Yvonne's wild side lol I love his voice ;-) These two had such a great synergy! Kudos to the producers of the show for casting them. They are both on Instagram, just type out their names in the search bar :-)
Apart from the Fashion shows, there were also musical performances. Below are some of the performers.
JCube (left) did his thing. My favorite artist of the night was Funmilola (right). I love it that the young rapper is doing conscious music while entertaining. I will definitely keep my eye on her! Check her out here
The International Dance Group also performed. They had some great dance moves!
The show ended with a Nelson Mandela Tribute  performed by Harrisong (aka Mr Songz)
How thoughtful!<3
Overall I had a blast and I hope to model on the show next year instead of just sitting in the audience [Hint Hint ;-)]
Now on to the oufit! I chose to wear a non traditional Ankara outfit because I wanted to stand out lol So I opted for this shirt that I got handmade back home (Thanks mom!). Even though it comes with a skirt, I decided to pair it with white skinnies instead. I then added nude pumps and a matching bag and finished off the look with my Monabbey neckalaces worn as a headband.
That's it for now but Thanks for stopping by loves.  Have a lovely day and a great rest of the week! Remember you can eave me comments below, share this post on your different social media and subscribe to the blog via email!
