Thankful Despite the Rain

 

Winter, or rather the weather in LA is always bipolar so it is highly advised to have a big scarf or a jacket in your car if you know you will be out for a while. And recently, it has been raining a lot and many of us complained about it. Me especially because even though I love the rain, I don't enjoy wet mornings when I have to walk my 5 year old to school (ugh!).  Well, a friend of mine posted something interesting about it. I don't recall exactly what she said but it was a rant about everyone complaining about the rain, me included I guess lol She pretty much reminded us that there's a drought in California and that not too long ago many were complaining about how hot and dry the weather was and we should just be thankful for being able to finally have the rain that we so desperately asked for.  This really hit home because I felt guilty... Guilty for being so selfish and entitled that I didn't even realized how privileged I am for being able to even  see, hear, feel the rain! See, we get caught up in little things but quickly forget that life in itself is a gift. Many would want to spend time with their kids in the rain and I get to do that. Trust me, my rainy mornings have been so amazing because I get to experience new things with my son!  Things like watching raindrops as they fall, jumping and splashing around in the water puddles and discovering all the little creatures that come out because of the rain are just some of the things we have been doing on rainy days. So for you my beloved, take time to be thankful for the little things in life and don't be quick to complain.  Especially with the new season that America and my beloved Congo have embarked on....There's still so much to be grateful for!
